The brainchild of longtime Broadway and Las Vegas composer Keith Thompson, The Composers Showcase (THECOMPOSERSSHOWCASE.COM) fills Myron’s Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts with original music. The monthly showcase, hosted and emceed by Thompson, unites the theater, music, and arts communities while pioneering new avenues.

Composers and songwriters present original musical material performed by singers and other entertainers to a supportive audience in the informal cabaret-style setting. The diverse, eclectic, and extremely entertaining show features the highest caliber of musicianship and artistry. These creative spirits relish the outlet for artistic expression as the audience applauds, creating a memorable time. Genres including Broadway tunes, pop, jazz, blues, rock, country, gospel, and classical are created by composers of all ages, with seasoned, young, and new writers creating the music of tomorrow. The youngest composer, age 11, appeared on America’s Got Talent and the oldest is 75.

Developed by Thompson in 2006, the showcase became a nonprofit in 2017. “In a town that is the entertainment capital of the world, where so much emphasis on cover bands, popular material, and established artists with a repertoire of well-known music, my mission is to make Vegas a cradle of original music and artistry in writing, creating, and producing new works,” explains Thompson.
