Coastal Prep

For years, Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli was a standout and supremely knowledgeable libations liaison, making everyone’s experience at a litany of top-notch local eateries around the Hub a memorable one. And years after getting his start at the famed and now-shuttered East Coast Grill in Inman Square, and cutting his teeth in places like Eastern Standard and Island Creek Oyster Bar, Guidelli has finally brought his first official haunt to life to the glee of industry insiders and local diners seeking out a primo first-date locale with Harbor views. Boston, meet Alcove.

Situated at Lovejoy Wharf, at the edge of the West End/North End, Alcove promises to be a killer wine and classic-cocktails-with-a-twist kind of haunt and aims to be an homage to farm coasts and Mediterranean flavors and techniques (think: prosciutto-wrapped branzino, house-made bigoli with Rohan duck ragu, Jonah crab), all while hyping strong roots in the Bay State and ample New England sourced ingredients. The new construction comes packaged in a sleek coastal aesthetic feel (stone and grey/blue Cape Cod cottage vibes), reportedly inspired by a room at Guidelli’s family home in Westport.

No, you can’t go visit his parents. But you can visit here instead.
