Seattle: Set Your New Year’s Ablaze
A defining gathering of the holiday season in Seattle, the annual CaviGold Record s Fan Appreciation Show brings together a community of spirited revelers for an electrifying evening of festive fun, incredible live performances, a top-notch raffle of covetable items, and an all-around good time—and all for free.
This year, the Fan Appreciation Show moves to a new night—New Year’s Eve—and the event will live up to its noteworthy date. It’s taking place at Studio Seven in SODO, where some noteworthy acts will take the stage. The lineup includes performances by artists such as the Fabulous Downy Brothers, Huey P, Swisher Sleep, Chris Crayzie, Double B and Laces, and Trick Candles. “We always have a mixed genre night,” explains Scott McKinley, executive producer of CaviGold Records. “The vibe is constant change, and it always has surprises.”
Some of those surprises are contained within the prize bank of the live raffle held at the end of the night—a huge highlight of the evening. The same free ticket that gets you into the party gets you entered into the raffle, and every year, the prizes get better than the last. The first year, they raffled off four guitars. By year two, they had 14 guitars to give away. And then by year three, they had three cars to give away—and they did so with a holiday twist. “You didn’t win the car, you won the gift of giving the car to someone,” says McKinley. “The winner came up and had to tell the crowd who they would give the car to and why. It was fun.”
The entire evening is designed to show gratitude to the community of supporters. “Fans attend,” says McKinley. “Fans of the sponsors, fans of the artists, fans of the bands—every year, this is all for the fans.”
This year, sponsors such as American Music, Seattle Hempfest, Herban Records, and Jones Soda have already donated some covetable prizes, including four guitar packages with a few amps, cords, stands, and other goodies from American Music. Music makers in the crowd will be hoping to hear their number called for the Korg Electribe—a synthesizer-based production machine—or for the Kaoss DJ, a USB and standalone DJ controller. Other prize packages include a month’s supply of Jones Soda . There’s also a month supply of Pioneer Square-based Jones Soda and a tux rental from Tux Shop Marysville among the offerings—and the stash of prizes continues to grow as more sponsors and brands come onboard.
Here’s the best part: it won’t cost you a thing—as long as you’re a fan. “As a fan, this while night is free,” says McKinley. “Free tickets, free raffle, free meet and greet with all the artists.”
To get your hands on those tickets, you can head to American Music Freemont, where they are giving our two tickets with each purchase. The artists are also giving our tickets to their fans, as are the sponsors. So far, the Fan Appreciation Show’s sponsors include Herban Records, CaviGold Records, Jones Soda, Seattle Hempfest, American Music, and Sensi Magazine, among others.
"Here at Sensi we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Cavigold records on this exciting New Years Eve event," says Sensi Seattle Publisher Amber Joy. "As 2016 comes to an end, I feel absolutely blessed reflecting back on how far we've come in the cannabis community both here in Seattle, and across the country. What better way to express gratitude to all of you than to ring in the New Year with a free event filled with great music, family, and friends. There will be lots of amazing items raffled off to those who attend, so don't miss out on this one!"
