 Festive displays of radiant lights abound in and around Denver this month. Here are some of the must-see favorites. 

City & County Building // Bannock Street

WHEN: November 25–January 1

WHY GO HERE: About 600,000 lights transform the neo-classical building into the largest light display in Denver.

Zoo Lights // Denver Zoo

WHEN: December 2–January 1

WHY GO HERE: Illuminated sculptures swing from the trees and pop out of bushes throughout the 70-acrespot, which also feautres nightly entertainment, Santa appearances, and animal encounters. Bonus for 2016:a lit “Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea” exhibit.

Blossoms of Light // Denver Botanic Gardens // York Street

WHEN: November 25–January 1

WHY GO HERE: This traditional holiday hotspot is betterthan ever this year. New elements include a massiveinteractive light display in the UMB Bank Amphitheater, digital projections in the Waring House Garden, and holographic illusions in Marnie’s Pavilion.

Trail of Lights // Denver Botanic Gardens // Chatfield Farms

WHEN: November 25–January 1

WHY GO HERE: At the most rustic spot in the bright bunch, illuminated paths wind through the Colorado countryside and past a 60-foot cottonwood adorned with 35,000 lights. This year’s updated display also incorporates a magical enchanted forest and grand insect light sculptures.
