Higher Society New Year’s Eve at City Hall

Nov 23, 2016 02:20PM ● By Stephanie Wilson

It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it? Luckily, it’s about time to bid 2016 farewell, wipe the slate clean, and start fresh in the new year. After the one we’ve all just endured, we’ve earned the right to ring in 2017 in elevated style, surrounded by good people—friends, neighbors, and strangers who come together to form an impromptu community of fun-loving revelers who want nothing to do with the “amateur night” New Year’s Eve can be. If that sounds like a community you’d like to be a part of, plan on toasting to the future with us.

On December 31, Sensi Magazine and City Hall are teaming up to present Higher Society New Year’s Eve. Tickets start at $25 for general admission, $75 for VIP—and those are selling fast. VIP passes gain you early entry to the venue for an intimate discussion and meet and greet with the evening’s special guests: visionary artists Alex Grey and Allyson Grey

Known for creating incredibly rich and complex psychedelic “mindscapes”—scenes from awakened imaginations—the multitalented Greys will center their discussion on how cannabis influences our world and perceptions. The VIP portion of the evening includes refreshments and kicks off at 7 p.m., with general admission doors opening at 9 p.m. All partygoers will get to see the Greys’ talents on display as the duo composes inspiring works live in City Hall throughout the evening.

And that’s just the start of the stimulating fun in store. On the eye-catching side of the entertainment lineup, three notable artists—VJ Johnathan Singer and painters Randal Roberts and Morgan Mandala will be wowing the crowd with live art and visuals. Meanwhile on the ear-pleasing side, a solid group of musical guests will set a mood sure to get the crowd moving. The lineup as of press time features two headlining acts: electronic artist Random Rab and Quixotic,  a performance art troupe that integrates technology with live music, dance, and cirque arts into its mind-bending productions. Also performing that night: Tierro Band with Bridget Law of Elephant Revival. There’s something for everyone. And there’s more to come. Keep an eye on the Sensi Facebook page for artist announcements.

So, yeah, you don’t want to miss this one—it’s bound to be the hottest ticket in town that night. So head to the City Hall website and get yours now.
