Impact: Seniors and Cannabis

Dec 31, 2015 11:44AM ● By Michele Ross

This event will be livestreamed free at Watch from anywhere around the world in the comfort of your home.

This is a family-friendly event with no onsite cannabis consumption, so feel free to bring grandma. Patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders are all welcome.

Even in the legal cannabis era here in Colorado, medical marijuana users can find it hard to navigate the tricky and sometimes seedy-feeling field. So many patients have so many questions that they are afraid to ask. Questions such as: Is cannabis right for me? For my mom? What is CBD and what does it treat? What are the side effects? Where do I find information I can trust?

IMPACT: Seniors & Cannabis is here to answer all your questions. Our second free IMPACT Network event on Seniors and Cannabis will be held on Saturday, January 9th, from noon to 5 pm at Green Labs in Denver’s RiNo district. Each panel will have a 10-minute Q&A session, and vendors will be on-site to help answer your questions on products, getting a medical card, and more.

While cannabis holds the most health benefits for seniors, they are the demographic least likely to approve of marijuana use or use it themselves. It’s time to shake the stigma and learn about cannabis with your parents. Learn all about the different ways to use cannabis without getting high, including topical creams that help aching joints and backs. Find out how modified THC in your eyes is the cutting edge treatment for glaucoma. Slow down neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s with a joint a day. Improve mood, get a better night’s sleep, and treat pain with a range of cannabinoid products.

IMPACT is more than just cannabis experts. Along with Green Labs Denver and Sensi Media Group, we bring in industry leaders in healthcare, government, and aging to bring a lively discussion on the benefits and risks of cannabis use for the patient, healthcare professionals, and legal system.

Colorado is rapidly aging, with over 25 percent of the population going to be over the age of 60 in 2030. As a national leader in health care, it’s time we address what it means to retire in a state that has fully legalized medical marijuana. Is marijuana use allowed at nursing homes, and should it be? These are all questions we’ll take on at the January 9th IMPACT: Seniors and Cannabis event.
