Impact: Patients and Cannabis

Nov 06, 2015 11:12AM ● By Stephanie Wilson
At Sensi we are all about purpose. More than making magazines, more than merely chronicling the new normal, we are focused on our mission to Shift the Culture. This is a mission shared by Green Labs, a trend-setter within the industry that has used events as a mechanism for mobilizing progress. Sensi and Green Labs have joined forces to launch Impact: Patients and Cannabis, a monthly series of events held on Second Saturdays. Join us for the family-friendly kickoff on Saturday, December 12, 2015, from noon to 5 pm at Green Labs in Denver’s RiNo district.

Why now? Even in the legal cannabis era here in Colorado, medical marijuana users can find it hard to navigate the tricky and sometimes seedy-feeling field. So many patients have so many questions that they are afraid to ask. Questions such as: Is cannabis right for me? For my child? What is CBD and what does it treat? What are the side affects? Where do I find information I can trust?

These patients and parents will find new answers for their questions at the first public gathering of the Impact Network: Patients and Cannabis, an event co-sponsored by Sensi Media Group and Green Labs Denver. This family-friendly event, the first of a monthly series, connects current and potential cannabis patients and their parents and caregivers with experts, resources, and hard-to-find info about treatment options. Autism and epilepsy are the focus of this first session, but all are welcome.

The goal of the monthly event is to create systems of support within the community. There will be panel discussions and Q&A sessions led by medical experts, patient ambassadors to connect guests with the right resources, mini-support group breakout sessions, brand representatives, and more.

Expert Panel and Q&A

The highlight of the day will be the expert panel led by Dr. Michele Ross, Tyler Dahm, and Kabuki Fox. Dr. Ross, president of the Impact Network, is an expert in the brain and endocannabinoid system. She holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and is the author of “Vitamin Weed: A 4-Step Plan to Prevent and Reverse Endocannabinoid Deficiency.”

Ms. Dahm is the founder and owner of Pathways Natural Wellness Center, where she specializes in Autism Treatment and Detoxification. Her personal experience as the mother of a son diagnosed with autism at age three has given her the expertise to help families across the globe navigate through the goals of their recovery, and she is known internationally as “The Autism Whisperer.”

Rounding out the panel is Kabuki Fox of Foxtracts, a developer of CBD-rich extracts for use in a variety of medical conditions with a personal focus on epilepsy. This renowned panel of experts will provide an opportunity for a good general Q&A from the audience following their informative discussion.

Family-Friendly Fun

And since it’s a family-friendly event, for the kids, there will be face painting, balloon artists, and sensory play areas. And as an added treat, Sensi Media Group’s lead photographer, John Carter of @Denver_Photography, will be on hand taking professional family portraits and candid snapshots free of charge.

For those unable to attend, the Impact Network event will be live streamed online (details to follow). The event is presented free of charge, and researchers, health professionals, and patients are all encouraged to attend the educational series.
